Minimalism architecture style started in 1920 with the pioneering of several architects. Ludwig Mies van der Rohe was one of the first architects who used the principles of minimalism in his designs. Minimal design is heavily influenced by traditional Japanese architecture. His designs mainly include simple rectangular roofs, uncomplicated plans and no frills.

Concepts of minimal architecture

The principles of minimal architecture include simplicity in function and form, clean and bright spaces, simple wall covering and the use of minimal facilities. The goal in minimalism is to create attractive and meaningful spaces while being simple by using minimal facilities. Minimal artist creates space by removing extra and unnecessary things.

A: Minimalism in architecture is a style or method that is attracted to the material elements of art and avoids any reference to the artist's mentality and inner expression, and considers an honest and direct experience in art as necessary. Minimalist artists tended to create three-dimensional works, often with large dimensions, and by consciously avoiding creating depth in the image, they blurred the boundaries of sculpture and painting. Emphasizing the object, which is one of the distinctive features of minimalism, he tried to discover the capabilities of real space. The term object, which was used in the article Special Objects in 1965 by Donald Judd, gradually became popular and was proposed as art. The use of simple mathematical principles and algebraic progression in composition is one of the most important features of this art. In 1966, Egon Ghosen defined an exhibition of minimalist art as without symbolism, without message and without personal display.

B: Minimalist artists used industrial products and their assembly in the composition and creation of their works; Productions that were unknown to the art world until then and thus eliminated the personal touch or hand.

C: The minimalist artists were the first generation who were trained in art universities and at the same time they had studies in the field of philosophy and art history along with practical training. He himself had a great contribution in criticizing this art as a movement with a philosophical basis and was influential on the debates that gave birth to new art - especially conceptual art that used language as a tool for artistic work. The importance of such works can be seen even today because the use of light and non-traditional materials has continued in the work of many multimedia artists after the sixties. Minimalist artists removed the base or anything that causes a distance from the viewer in space and by arranging simple and similar forms, they paid attention to the variables of light, movement, human body and space. The title of a pre-defined and limited concept was questioned and criticized.

Minimal interior decoration design

The minimalist architectural design gradually entered the field of interior decoration design from the exterior design of the building and received a lot of attention. There are various tips to achieve a minimal interior design, including the use of cold colors with white or blue lighting. Another tip that turns an interior space into a minimal space is to create large and open spaces with minimal household items, which make the home space very beautiful in addition to simplifying it.

In minimalist interior designs, glass is also widely used, which in addition to giving a beautiful effect to the interior of the building, causes more light to enter the space. One of the principles of minimizing spaces is the use of natural light, which can be achieved by using glass.
